The Basic Science Foundation Course
Saint James School of Medicine in affiliation with Jain University is proud to present the Basic Science Foundation Course leading to direct admission into the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at Saint James School of Medicine. Saint James School of Medicine (estd 1999), offers the MD program which covers the Basic and Clinical Sciences.
Following the Basic Science Foundation Course at Jain University, Bangalore, you’ll study Basic Sciences at our beautiful St. Vincent campus, one of our two Caribbean medical school campuses and thereafter complete your clinical rotations at our affiliated teaching hospitals and clinical facilities in the US or the Caribbean for a total course duration of 5 and half years.

At the same time there is s serious shortage of doctors in the US and Canada. SJSM has a high 96.77% first time USMLE Step 1 pass rate for our US and Canadian students. We are also the first Caribbean medical school to provide a USMLE Step 1 Pass Guarantee. We are listed in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools and approved by the ECFMG in the USA, and the MCC in Canada. SJSM is approved by the CAAM-HP as well as ACCM and is one of the few schools to to have this double accreditation.
In 2018, SJSM was approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI), which now allows India students to study at SJSM and return to India to practice medicine if they should choose to do so.
The Basic Science Foundation Course

The Foundation course is offered exclusively in India by Jain University and on successful completion of the 92 credit course, students are deemed to have met the requirements for entry into the MD program SJSM St Vincent, where they will join their peers from the US and Canada in the very same curriculum.
